The Sweet Voices of 40 Young Women Raise $3000 for Baby Basics!

Forty young women, ages 12- 18 arrived in Naples from Caine, UK to provide a musical concert to benefit Baby Basics on March 25. at the Naples United Church of Christ. They were a group of curious young women who delighted in seeing the sights of Naples as well as adding their talents to make money to help needy babies. Pictured to the left are Jean Ann & Dick Lynch with four of the young ladies outside Naples United Church.

Their concert was filled with a variety of music from Mozart, Shubert, Coldplay and a wonderful rendition of Billy Jean by Michael Jackson.

Local families hosted these enthusiastic youth by introducing them to Naples hot shopping spots, the beach, local country clubs with inviting swimming pools and provided them with breakfast, dinners and their favorite pizza. Four of the chorus members stayed with Jean Ann and Dick Lynch who delighted in learning about Caine, their school St Anne’s and the English countryside. Gifts from England from the girls provided warm memories of a great weekend.

Special thanks to the Naples United Church of Christ’s Choir, Becky Weese, Sandi Button and her committee and Bruce Galbraith for bringing the choir to Naples and for arranging for their stay.

Prior to the concert on Sunday, Baby Basics hosted a cocktail party at the Waterside Shops to kick off this special event. Commissioner Jim Coletta (pictured to the right with Jean Ann Lynch), presented a plaque to Baby Basics in honor of their commitment and contribution to the community. Delicious appetizers were provided by Brios Tuscan Grille and the evening was capped off with cupcakes from Grace and Shellly’s Cupcakes. Our thanks to John Baron and Julie Chirichella at the Waterside Shops for their help and support.

I was thrilled to have served as Honorary Chairman of the Baby Basics Biking and Walking Challenge event presented by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney at North Collier Regional Park on February 12, 2010. As a law enforcement officer and a parent, I strongly believe in the good work being done in our community by Baby Basics of Collier County.Sheriff Kevin J. Rambosk

Just as we were about to have our last child, life seemed to be going great.  Then my husband's company closed and we lost our house.  Baby Basics was there for me with more than just diapers.  We were a family used to giving help - not asking for it.  Thank you for helping make our life a little easier.A Program Participant

Baby Basics is a very special nonprofit that provides diapers and caring for low income families. Diapers are a basic necessity and are very expensive. This organization relieves these families of some of their financial burdens. By volunteering, I have the opportunity to meet these families and their children, providing one-on-one contact and observing how appreciative they are.Sue Reynen, board member

I have been a Baby Basics volunteer/site manager for the past 7 years.  I love it because we can give encouragement and help to ensure happy babies through friendship to moms and dads.  We give all of our families a gracious hand-up while they are trying to do their very best.Trish Kelly, board member

As a Baby Basics volunteer, I feel that I play a small part in helping parents who are working hard to bring up happy, healthy babies. Not having to buy expensive diapers allows parents to provide food and other necessities to ensure happy, healthy families.  Meeting with these families and witnessing their gratitude is a special perk of being a volunteer.Selma Flieder, volunteer
